Overall Responsibilities:
Position Title: Purchasing Manager
Reports to: COO/GM
Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing purchasing strategies for manufacturing of panelized wood building structures.
- Maintaining positive relationships with suppliers and negotiating contracts, prices, timelines, etc.
- Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
- Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
- Coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply need and overseeing the purchasing team in their daily activities.
- Managing daily purchasing activities, supervising staff, and allocating tasks.
- Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
- Assess quality of the material received and escalate any discrepancies to the suppliers and management.
- Coordinating with inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs.
- Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
- Preparing material requirement projections by project and time period.
- Working to improve purchasing systems and processes.
- Training new employees in the purchasing process and how to use the purchasing system.
Requirements:
- Degree in business administration, engineering, or other relevant field
- 10-year experience in procurement of wood and engineered wood products
- Experience as a purchasing manager or in a similar position.
- Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.
- Excellent leadership abilities and be able to negotiate the best possible deals with the suppliers.
- Supervisory and management experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
